Ave Maria!

My name is FrancisMary and today I want to share with you incredible things that your guardian angel can do for you.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church provides lovely explanations of angels and their functions. There is only a brief passage on guardian angels explicitly, but it is filled with reference to the Church Fathers, Scripture, and works of the saints:

Role of Guardian Angels

St. Augustine wrote that the name ‘angel’ pertains to its office as God’s messenger, not to its nature, which is pure spirit with no physical body (see CCC, §329). According to St. Thomas Aquinas, guardian angels try to sway our decisions by appealing to our senses and imagination in order to help us enter heaven (see Summa Theologica, Ia, q. 111).

Guardian angels essentially prickle our consciences to help us more closely follow God’s will, speaking to our hearts to direct us in the correct route. Our guardian angels keep watch over us and provide protection, especially when the protection of our souls is required. They support us in prayer by making our needs their own and aid in preparing our spirits for the time when we stand before God at the end of our lives.

You should honor and acknowledge your guardian angel daily by saying this simple Catholic prayer to my guardian angel.

Angel of God

My guardian dear

To Whom His love

Commits me here

Ever this day

Be at my side

To light and guard

To rule and guide. Amen

I pray the good LORD, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, keep and bless you all the days of your life in the mighty name of J E S U S Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
