Miraculous Statue Of St. Francis ‘Saves’ Animals During Devastating Fire At Zoo

May the name of the Lord be praised!

The Diocese of Lafayette in the U.S. state of Louisiana has shared an amazing story on their Facebook page

Last Saturday, a massive fire broke out last weekend at Zoosiana, a zoo in Acadiana, Louisiana. Despite the fire being huge and causing lots of damage to the zoo’s facilities, no animals were injured, and the zoo’s owner credits it all to… St. Francis of Assisi.

Really.

The fire was enormous,” the diocese’s post reads. The flames rose three stories high. It was so hot, the concrete slab started to explode.

The zoo’s owner George Oldenburg, who is Catholic, says his “windows were glowing orange” with flames when he woke up Saturday night. The fire was only a few feet from the giraffe and monkey areas, and he was most worried about their safety.

“They’re trapped in enclosures,” he told the diocese. “I was prepared to start releasing them. I’d rather see them run free than have a death like that. I was ready to drive my truck through the fence to release them.”

Thankfully, it didn’t come to that. Firefighters were able to successfully contain the fire. Amazingly, even though the zoo’s train depot was completely destroyed, no animals were injured at all.

It was the next day on Sunday, when the owner was looking through the wreckage that something caught his eye: an unscathed Statue of St. Francis of Assisi.

I got goosebumps when I saw it. I mean, it’s unbelievable! The Holy Spirit was here protecting my animals, that’s for sure. […]

I believe I had a miracle. It’s been so dry around here. It would have been easy for the fire to engulf the whole zoo. We’re surrounded by bamboo and wooden walkways. It’s a miracle it didn’t all go up. Why the flames stopped right there, I think it’s because of St. Francis. He was protecting the animals.

Miracle? ‘Faces’ Of Jesus And John The Baptist Found ‘Intact’, After Devastating Fire Ripped Through Church

Miracle? ‘Faces’ Of Jesus And John The Baptist Found ‘Intact’, After Devastating Fire Ripped Through Church

The blaze gutted the ancient 13th century monastery in rural Serbia, Russia, but holy paintings of Jesus and saints remained largely intact.

A FIRE that raged through a church destroyed everything except holy paintings of Jesus and Christian saints — leading worshippers to hail it as a miracle.

They show the faces of Jesus, Saint John the Baptist and Saint Peter which had once hung pride of place in the 13th century Orthodox church.

Firefighters battled to save the building in the remote village of Kazapun but large parts were completely ruined.

Rescuers were stunned to see the religious icons were still in good condition despite the severity of the blaze.

News quickly spread of the surviving paintings as believers began viewing the rescue as a sign of godly intervention.

One local told the media: “Glory to God and his worshippers.”

Many have been encouraged to help with the clean-up effort following the supposed miracle.

But other locals have given a more plausible explanation for the “miracle”.

One said: “Gold doesn’t burn and most of the icons are made of 24k gold. It has happened before and will happen again.”

It is not yet known what caused the fire, which started in the more modern accommodation wing of the monastery built in 2003.

Lord, have mercy.

A few days ago, a four-alarm blaze engulfed the chapel at Mary Help of Christians Academy in North Haledon, NJ, an all-girls high school run by the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco. The fire alarm went off at 1:29am on May 18th, and though firefirghters came from four nearby municipalities, the fire wasn’t extinguished until around 4am.

“Though our hearts are heavy,” the official statement from the Salesian Sisters reads, “we are fortunate to be able to report that no one was harmed and that firemen were able to rescue the most precious item in the chapel: the tabernacle.”

Wow, praise the Lord!
It’s not clear based on public information what started the fire.

A salesian sister that goes by “Sister B” on Twitter and “sisterb24” on Instagram posted about the fire with some incredible pictures, along with information about how you can help them recover.

In the last tweet, the sister said that the Bible was found open to the book of Job. Job is a book in the Old Testament that contemplates why God sometimes allows bad things to happen to those who love him.
