7 Powerful Bible Verses About Guardian Angels The Virgin Mary Wants You To Know

“Angels around us, angels beside us, angels within us, angels within us. Angels are watching over you when times are good or stressed. Their wings wrap gently around you, whispering you are loved.”

God created the angels for many purposes, including guiding, protecting, encouraging and strengthening us. Scripture tells us that angels are God’s servants, sent by Him into the world to serve His will. Perhaps, the most important role for angels is praising and glorifying God. In fact, there is a description in the Bible of millions of angels praising God in Heaven. God has also commanded His angels concerning you. Though we may not see them or know they are there, angels are watching over us, transporting blessings into our lives, protecting us from danger and helping us to glorify God better. Scripture proves it. Here are seven Bible verses about angels watching over us.

1. Psalm 91:11-12

“For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands, they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.” -Psalm 91:11-12

God offers His pure and selfless love through the use of His angels. According to the psalmist, God commands many angels to guard us. God commands those faithful spirits who are nearest to Him, who come from Him and are marked by Him to guard us in all our ways. God’s promise through the psalmist to Jesus applies to us as well.

2. Exodus 23:20

“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.” -Exodus 23:20

It is here that the Lord promises the Israelites that they would be guided and kept in their way through the wilderness to the Promised Land of Canaan. This was no ordinary angel either. This was the Angel of the Lord, an Old Testament manifestation of Christ Himself. In verse 21, the Lord declares, “My Name Is In Him”. This promise was connected with the rule that they the Israelites must be obedient to the angel God sent before them.

3. Matthew 18:10

“Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my Heavenly Father.” -Matthew 18:10

This is one of the key passages in the Bible regarding guardian angels. There is no doubt that good angels help protect us. They also reveal information and minister to believers in general. The big question for many people is whether each person is assigned a guardian angel. While Scripture nowhere states that an angel is assigned to every individual, we know that we are in the presence of angels, and they are here for good.

4. Hebrews 1:14

“Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”-Hebrews 1:14

Angels are sent by God to protect us and help us inherit His full kingdom. The Bible tells us that angels are His servants, carrying out His will and work for our good. We know from this verse from Hebrews that angels are ministering spirits, sent to serve those who are going to receive salvation. By definition, salvation is deliverance from sin and its consequences brought about by faith in Jesus Christ. Angels ultimately assist in our deliverance from sin or eternal death. The gift of God is eternal life.

5. Psalm 103:19-22

“The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all. Praise the LORD, you His angels, you mighty ones who do His bidding, who obey His word. Praise the LORD, all His heavenly hosts, you His servants who do His will. Praise the LORD, all His works. Everywhere in His dominion. Praise the LORD, my soul.” -Psalm 103:19-22

Having celebrated God’s mercy to His people, the psalmist praises God’s excellent Majesty and universal dominion. The psalmist acknowledges God’s angels, who do His bidding, intervene and protect on His behalf, and are obedient to His word.

6. Hebrews 13:2

“Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” -Hebrews 13:2

We are called in this verse to be hospitable or friendly to those we don’t know. The Bible tells us that some have entertained, or hosted messengers of God, unaware. When we meet strangers, we should be careful how we treat them because it could be someone that was sent by God to help us or protect us. We don’t know what God is trying to do or what He is trying to accomplish but we know that it is a part of His good and perfect will.

7. Revelation 5:11-12

“Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice, they sang: ‘Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise.”

-Revelation 5:11-12

We know from these verses that there are millions of angels encircling God’s throne and glorifying the Lord. We see a different side of angels here, discovering they are more than protectors but also powerful glorifiers of the Lord.

They Are Watching Over You

Angels are fascinating spiritual beings. Not only do they serve a role as God’s messengers, but they are also His warriors. They praise and worship God, while also protecting and directing us on His behalf. When we get to heaven, we’ll probably be amazed to discover just how often God’s angels protected us or intervened on our behalf. Whether you realize it or not, angels are watching over you at this very moment. What a wonderful creator God is.
